OSS – Innovation for National Transformation

This year's conference features the significant role of open source software (OSS) as an effective enabler that can contribute positively to the National transformation agenda towards achieving Vision 2020.

Through the collaborative and open nature of OSS, Public Sector, Institutions of Higher Learning and the private sector will have ample opportunities to benefit first hand from notable ICT Industry and OSS community luminaries on technologies, and the innovative use of OSS in bringing public service delivery to greater heights.

OSS provides the resources for nation building, to increase innovation and the transformation needed to achieve 1Malaysia and towards bringing Malaysia to being a fully developed nation.OSS lowers the barrier to entry (technology, skills and cost) and increases digital inclusion of all Malaysians.

Government's digital services can be expanded to use OSS to enhance and improve interoperability, and extend accessibility, thus reducing digital divide and extending the reach of ICT applications to broader and deeper levels of the socio-economic groups, encouraging a flourishing knowledge-based society. An increased growth in the ICT Industry increases the growth of OSS user and developer community, supporting the growth in local ICT Industry to expand in today's global market.

Each of the tracks has a theme that supports the main conference theme. The list of papers suggested is not an exhaustive list. Speakers are free to include other topics deemed relevant to the Track Theme.
