INTRODUCTION
The Creative Multimedia Content Competition 2012 is organised by the Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (MAMPU) with the collaboration of Ministry of Education (MOE). The competition is opened to all secondary students and training teachers from the Institute of Teacher Education (IPG) and Matriculation College all over Malaysia to introduce and encourage the use of Open Source Software (OSS).

The competition will be held in conjunction with the Malaysian Government Open Source Software Conference (MyGOSSCON) 2012 on 26 November 2012.

THEME
The theme for each category is OPEN.

OBJECTIVES
The objectives of this competition are as follow:

1. Encourage the development of creative multimedia content which is based on education that can be used in schools and IPG.
2. Increase the awareness of Open Source Software (OSS)
3. To encourage the talent and creativity of students and training teachers that using OSS for multimedia by providing incentives.
4. Develop the talent and creativity of Public Sector human capital, especially in schools and IPG

CATEGORY
The competition is OPEN to two (2) categories :

1. School Category       -    All Secondary School
2. Institution Category -    Institute of Teacher Education (IPG) and Matriculation College in Malaysia.

CONCEPT OF COMPETITION

• The competition is OPEN to all secondary school students and training teachers all over Malaysia.
• Secondary School Category comprises of maximum 2 pupils and 2 teachers and IPG/Matriculation College Category can comprise of 2 to 4 training teachers/students
• The title or multimedia project is open and must be based education.
• The development of project must use at least one (1) Open Source Software e.g. gimp, inkscape, kino, LMMS (Linux Multimedia Studio), etc.
• Each project must list down all the software that have been used.
• Selected participants/project must produce a presentation slide (10 – 15 pages) using the OpenOffice.org version 3.2.
• The presentation must include creative elements in the use of text, audio, animation, graphics and etc.
• The presentation must at least use one  (1) platform of Open Source Software

SELECTION PROCESS
There are two stages in the selection process:
1. First stage

• 10 teams from Secondary Schools Category and Institution Category (IPG & Matriculation College) and were shortlisted (5 teams from each category)
• Will be held on 7 – 22 October 2012 by MOE

2. Second stage

• selection of top 5 teams from each category
• will be held on 29 October 2012 by MAMPU

JUDGING

1. A panel of judges will be appointed from MAMPU, MOE, Public Institute of Higher Learning and OSS community.
2. Each team will be given 20 minutes to present their concept, idea and followed by a Q & A session.
3. Each team will be judged based on the following criteria:

• Innovation
• Content of the project
• Creativity in the development of the project
• Overall presentation
• Bonus points will be given if the following extra criteria:

a) Quality for Technical, Design and Structure
b) Presentation Techniques
c) Content Effectiveness
d) Topic Understanding
